Why Challenge4Charity?

I wanted to do something to give back to people who don’t have the support we do in the UK. A friend had mentioned Action4Diabetics (A4D) and then I found out about the above challenge. It seemed like a plan in the making!

Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. The hormone insulin – produced by the pancreas – is responsible for controlling the amount of glucose in the blood.

In the UK, we have amazing support for diabetics but not every country is so fortunate. Many countries lack the basic facilities to help those with the condition.

Around 400 million people in the world live with diabetes. More than half live in Asia.

Many of these people don’t even know why they’re ill. This charity has a simple and easily achieved aim: Action4Diabetics (A4D) helps to provide life giving medical care and essential development support for young people with Type 1 Diabetes in emerging countries in Asia. They make a difference and change lives for the better.

It all came together nicely into a plan that involved me walking a long way in a long time. That’s it in a nutshell.

This blog will detail the routes and go through anything I think is useful to know – cafes, toilet locations, getting-lost-points…
